Pricing · the entire model, on one page

Free for farmers. Vendors pay only when a sale closes.

One fee, not five. 5% on completed sales — no subscription, no listing fee, no RFP-response fee, no featured-placement premium. If a farmer doesn’t buy, nobody pays anything — including us.

For farmers

$0. Forever.

No subscription, no lead fee, no “premium” tier, no data resale. Your searches, your RFPs, your purchase history — yours. We’re not an ad network.

Free · every feature · every farmer
For vendors

5% on completed sales. That’s it.

One transaction fee, paid only when a farmer actually buys. No other charges — not for listing, not for responding to RFPs, not for being shown in search. Same rate for everyone, from day one.

What the 5% covers. Everything FarmDeck does: the marketplace listings, the RFP pipeline, the demand dashboard, the trial-data overlay, the payment rails, the support team, and the underlying data pipeline that ingests land-grant variety trials so your listings show up with real yield numbers next to them.

Founding cohort · first 50 vendors

Same rate. Different standing.

Founding vendors pay the same 5%. We don’t give away a free year — once a farmer and vendor meet, both sides have the other’s details, and a 12-month discount would just subsidize relationships we won’t see again. Instead, founding perks are structural and permanent. They activate at marketplace launch.
Founding badge
Permanent “Founding Vendor · 2026” marker on your profile, listings, and bids. A trust signal to farmers that you were here first — shown forever, no matter when anyone else joins.
Search weight boost+40%
Founding vendors rank higher in same-region search results for the first 24 months after launch. More impressions, more RFPs, more revenue — but only when the marketplace has traffic to distribute.
Priority onboarding48h
Hand-reviewed application within 48 hours, dedicated onboarder, early access to the demand dashboard. First-in-line when the marketplace opens in your pilot state.
Principles

Why we picked this model.

Farmers always free. An ad-supported or subscription model for farmers turns the platform into a different product — one that optimizes for engagement instead of better purchase decisions. We picked the cleaner structural incentive.
Pay only when you sell. Listing fees and RFP-response fees are revenue-ops devices, not vendor-ops devices. They punish participation and make platform cost unpredictable. 5% of a closed sale is predictable and perfectly aligned: you only pay when the platform is actually earning you revenue.
No free-year giveaway. Once a farmer and vendor meet, both sides have the other’s details. A 12-month discount would subsidize relationships that might never come back to the platform. We’d rather charge fairly from day one and earn your return with real service.
Below vendor gross margin. Seed distribution runs ~15–25% gross margin (30–40% on organic). 5% sits meaningfully inside that, so vendors can absorb or pass through modestly — without making off-platform transactions worth the relationship-management cost.
